Skye Cafe Bistro (vegan and gf)

Brendan and I have had the pleasure of going to Skye Cafe Bistro on a few occasions.  We have enjoyed it so much that I decided to share a bit about this sweet spot on my blog!  I almost always order something that is completely vegan and it’s always such a treat!  The Skye Cafe Bistro bowl is packed with so much flavor.  The star of the show was really the homemade Tzatziki sauce.  I have also had there vegan burger which you can honestly tell is all made from scratch. So good!

The first time we went to Skye Cafe was when it was just us four after taking the kids to the Science Centre.  There always seems to be people enjoying themselves and this doesn’t surprise me as the food is terrific.  I love how light and bright the atmosphere is. A true breath of fresh air from all of the darker ambient restaurants (which I also love, but like to have my options!) that Regina has to offer.

Because we have eaten here several times I can honestly say I don’t have anything negative to say!  Our food has always come out just right, Coffee is delicious, and service wonderful. One of the perks for having such a small space.

I appreciate that they do offer call ahead and reservations.  This past Sunday I called to make a reservation since there would be 6 of us and they were very accommodating.  One thing I did notice was that they turned away two people at the door even though their were open tables available the whole time we were there.  This isn’t a criticism at all just an observation.  I used to plan events at a restaurant that had a corporate niche and have a great understanding of filling space.  We RARELY turned anyone away.  We literally would make room, find space, shift things around and make it happen.  Business is business and if you offer great food, their isn’ t anything greater than a restaurant that is hopping!!  Sometimes it pays to get creative and encourage guests to wait in the lobby and maybe offer a light bite, beverages that they can transfer to their table, honestly anything thoughtful instead of saying “sorry we don’t have anything available”.  I do not know if their were other circumstances to it, which their very well could be. This is just coming from an outsiders perspective.

I have read that they plan on coming out with a dinner menu for a long time now.  I honestly can’t wait for that to happen!
