The minute my son took a liking to dinosaurs I knew that we were going to plan a weekend trip to Drumheller.  We chose to stay in the Ramada which is also the same hotel we stayed on for our honeymoon week while making the drive back from Banff to Regina.

I booked the King Suite which really is set up so perfectly for a family of four. The king bedroom has it’s own doors that separates the two rooms. This is a necessity for us when having a toddler.  I actually have a video tour you can see HERE.  The room was clean, staff were the best and they bake fresh chocolate chip cookies in the afternoons!

We pre requested a pack and play and it was already set up and waiting for us in our room which was a huge help being able to put the baby down in the pin while I unloaded the cart and got things situated.

Other notable Features include:

  • Free Breakfast
  • Amazing water slide
  • location, location
  • pet friendly
  • Free Parking

Two Negatives:

  • Noise from room above us was obnoxious
  • sadly there is no paddling pool for toddlers. only a large swimming pool/waterslide and a hot tub

We were able to walk to an incredible grocery store called Freson Bros. I can’t even believe a store like this even exists in Drumheller and that Calgary doesn’t have one.  I loved it! The toy aisle was my favorite! I got all kinds of little dinosaurs for Brighton.  The best part was when the lady gave me a load of stamps (I spent a lot because I had to get formula) and I asked the guy behind me if he wanted them.  He was over the moon about these stamps and must have thanked me five times before leaving.  Just small town charm. I love it!

The Dino museum genuinely is setup so great! Again.. FREE parking. There is an adorable cafe in which we had lunch. So convenient. My son loved this place. He much prefers the dead dinos over the “real” animated ones. I don’t blame him. HERE is a peak inside the museum.

We heard GREAT things about Bernie and the Boys Bistro for burgers and that they are kid friendly, but they don’t have much variety for Gluten Free options and we heard great things about Sublime Food and Wine..because there space is VERY limited (it’s a cottage style home) they are not baby/toddler friendly So we skipped both of these places this trip.

DEFINITELY check out Cafe ole for your coffee/pastry fix! They are closed on Sundays but this place is awesome! We also noticed a golfing range and golf course that make us want to go back to check it all out along with some amazing walking paths. Overall Brighton enjoyed himself and I got a weekend spent with my family that I’ll never forget.
